Courtney Engelstein has worked in film and television production for over 10 years, moving from the art department on Hollywood movies to producing and writing for a hit PBS series.
She spent 2 years in Thailand working on character driven documentary programs that profiled people living with HIV/AIDS. Since moving back to the States, her interest in social issue filmmaking led to work with filmmakers like Jonathan Stack and Jennifer Dworkin. She has produced, directed and shot history, science, crime, and verité programming for various companies, most recently at NBC’s Peacock Productions. She is currently working on an independent doc about the tangled relationship between a producer and a young man trying to come off methadone.
